Predicting the Weather in Barcelona Barcelona, Spain is a wonderful space in our world to visit. It holds architecture, culture, history, beaches, and is considered one of the most kid friendly cities in Europe. Museums and clubs, fine dining and cultural interests are here to please anyone. Once you dive into books and brochures of all that Barcelona has to offer, you will be ready to make those vacation plans. But depending on what corner of the world you currently live in, you may want to study Barcelona's erratic weather cycle before booking that plane. This area is positioned in such a way that it falls into the Mediterranean Climate with sub-Mediterranean influence . Simply put, the summers are hot and dry, the winters, wet and cool. For four to six months out of the year, there is very little precipitation caused by subtropical high pressure cells, making it impossible for rain to be produced. Here comes the tricky part; because the Western Mediterranean Climate is one of the most irregular climates in the world, it is hard to determine which months will be cool and rainy and which will be warm and dry. Judging on past years, the wettest appear to be April, May, August, September, October and November. The driest being July, February, March and June but sometimes even the residents are caught off guard with a change in precipitation. Temperature is another consideration with December, January and February having the coldest degrees at anywhere from 35-55 farenheit. Not bad if you currently live in an area of the world that has killer winters with snowstorms and ice. July and August fair as being the warmest at 65-85 Fahrenheit. A fantastic climate without searing 100 degree weather that you could find further inland in the desert regions. If the beach is your passion, remember that Barcelona is located on the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula where the westerly Atlantic winds are typical, bringing low humidity as opposed to being further inland where there may be a dry, scorching heat during the dry summer months. Regardless of when you decide to visit this ancient city, you will end up with a scrapbook of memories for years to come; just don't be surprised if the weather takes a sudden turn.
