Testimonials

Walter Wagner / Vila Joiosa
From Apr-11, 2009 Until Apr-12, 2009
Loved both the location and feel of our apartment on Vila Joiosa in the Barceloneta section of Barcelona. Right next to the beach. The apartment was clean and well furnished with both a 2 person bed and a small but adequate terrace where wet clothes could be hung out to dry. Overall it had everything we wanted and needed and I would recommend it to anyone (especially and beachgoers!) Really perfect.

Erik Beer / Ramblas Building 5-6
From Dec-30, 2009 Until Jan-01, 2010
We had a very pleasant stay at the Ramblas apartment. The two bedroom apartment was very clean. The living room was fairly spacious for a European apartment with a large kitchen table and L-shaped couch which easily slept our 5th person. The apartment also has its own lift, and the doors had really nice security locks giving us peace in mind when leaving travel gear and money in the apartment. Hardwood floors and "IKEA" type furnishing gave the apartment a modern yet comfortable feel. The location really couldn't be much better for Barcelona. Centrally located to the Barri Gothic for old city sites, shopping, and restaurants. 1 minute walk from La Rambla, 5 minutes to tourist information, and only 10 minutes to the Picasso museum. The metro is less than a 5 minute walk on La Rambla, and is the best bet for hitting Guadi attractions on the other side of the city. The green L3 line will take you to most all recommended city attractions, including the main train station. Airport transport was easily done on city bus for a few Euro, or $30 cab (bus was simple). The apartment is surrounded by "local" restaurants offering high quality food at more affordable prices than the touristy Rambla. Our host was very nice and offered his local restaurant favorites which were very good and reasonably priced. I would rent this apartment again and would not hesitate in recommending it to my friends or family.

Great location just off the beach, very friendly and helpful staff.

Only negative of the place was that the hot water ran out fairly quickly. But still I'm happy with the place and the price we paid.

All apartments I´ve stayed in were good. Price/quality is good. If you want to cook yourself most of them did miss some stuff. And in autumn and winter and maybe spring, it should have more blankets.

Gay Barcelona

Gay Barcelona

When you are gay and you are traveling, you want to be sure that you are hitting all of the great spots for the lifestyle that you live and love. When you are in Barcelona, there are lots of great places that you want to find and check out. When it comes to Gay Barcelona, there are plenty of great places for you to investigate.

In Barcelona, there has long been a tradition of acceptance and enjoyment of the gay scene. The scene in Barcelona is vibrant and integrated - and much of the city itself is very gay friendly. Although there are some areas in and around Barcelona that are frequented by more of the gay population, in whole, the city of Barcelona is one that caters to the gay lifestyle in many different ways. Everywhere in the city is very open minded and quite welcoming, so many people who are gay enjoy traveling to Barcelona, and make it one of their top tourist and party destinations.

Areas

Although much of Barcelona is gay friendly, and although the entire town is open minded and welcoming, there are some areas that happen to be more popular with the Gay community than others. The area of Barcelona that is called Eixample (which is said "eshaumpay" and also nicknamed "gayxample"), is the most prominently gay area of Barcelona. It is not an exclusively gay area, so the clubs, bars, and hostels are popular with everyone. However, most of the bars, clubs and hostels that are Gay bars, clubs, and hostels, are located in Eixample.

This is beautiful and very modern area in the center of Barcelona. There is all that you could hope for when it comes to various bars and clubs, as well as accommodations for anyone - Gay or straight.

Sitges is also an area in Barcelona that is popular with the Gay Community. This is an area that is a short train ride away from Barcelona, and one where many Gays meet and enjoy the shared community.

Accommodations

When you are staying in any city, accommodations are important - and when you are traveling through Gay Barcelona, you want to be sure that you are staying places that are open and welcoming to your way of life. Barcelona itself has a great selection of accommodations that are perfect for the Gay and Lesbian communities. There are Gay hotels, Hostels that are specifically for Gays or welcoming of Gays, and there are also flats and apartments that you will find to be very Gay friendly.

Clubs

Most of the clubs that are found in the Eixample district are Gay clubs and bars. Therefore, any of the clubs and discos in this area are going to be what you are looking for when it comes to clubs and bars for Gays in Barcelona.

Gay Beaches

If you are looking for Gay beaches around Barcelona, you'll want to visit Sitges, which is one of the most popular Gay areas around the city. You'll find Platja de la Bossa Rodona, which is a Gay Beach. Although this is the more prominently gay beach near Barcelona, many of the beaches and areas around the city are tolerant and accepting, so any beach you would like to go to would be a great place to enjoy yourself in Barcelona. You'll also find many nudist beaches around Sitges.

One of the best things about being Gay in Barcelona is the acceptance that you will find no matter where you go. Although there are prominent Gay areas, like Eixample and Sitges, and although these areas have many different things to offer the Gay community, you will be able to enjoy Gay Barcelona no matter where you go in the city or in the area. There is going to be plenty for you to do and plenty for you to enjoy in Gay Barcelona.

Keep in mind the advantages that our Bacerlona apartments have to offer to you!
